Do you ever see something and instantly know of another way you could use it? I am sure all my fellow crafters have had this happen to them at one point or another. That is exactly what happened to me and how these pastel flower pots came about.
I was actually in the grocery store and the next item on my list was to get yogurt. I was looking at the store selection and noticed this new (or a least new to me) of yogurt from Maison Riviera. I thought they were so cute looking and appreciated the fact that they came in theses little glass containers, instead of plastic that would just end up in the landfill.
It was like a little light bulb went off in my head and I knew I could use these containers afterwards to make tiny little flower pots. After thoroughly enjoying the yogurt (It’s really, really good!), I got started on my project.
This was probably one of the easiest projects I’ve done in a while but I have to say I love the outcome of thee little flower pots. For now, I am using them as flower pots but I know I could find so many other uses for them. All it takes is 4 supplies and 3 steps to complete.
Supplies needed:
- 1. Mini glass jars
- 2. Acrylic paint – your choice of colours
- 3. Flowers – your choice of colour and variety
- 4. Sponge tipped paint brushes
Step 1
Enjoy the yogurt and thoroughly wash out the jars. I found some of the sticker didn’t want to easily come off, so I used Goo Gone to get the remainder of it off. If using the Goo Gone to remove the labels be sure to get all remnants washed off or the paint will not adhere.
Step 2
Using a sponge brush, paint the inside of each of the flower pots with your choice of colours. Use a thin coat until you get your desired look.
Once you’ve applied the paint, let them dry thoroughly. I found the paint to dry quite quickly.
Step 3
Add the flowers and enjoy! Like I said, this was a super easy but great result craft for me.
These flower pots in the pastel colours make for a great Easter or Spring themed mantle or table centre piece.
Pastels were the theme of this month’s Inspire My Creativity link-up party and I can’t wait to see what the other hosts have come up with.
